Message from our Founder

This is new territory for me—writing a founder's message. If I'm being honest, I struggled with it. These messages are supposed to be upbeat and inspirational, but it feels almost impossible to strike that tone while watching communities grapple with so much uncertainty.

But then I remember what uncertainty reveals: who we really are. And in our preparedness community, what it reveals is extraordinary.

Some of you are seasoned veterans of emergency management, others have been thrust into these critical roles unexpectedly, and still others are just working to better prepare your organizations without formal emergency management experience. What unites you isn't experience level. It's your values. Responsibility. Community. Prevention. Preparedness.

The belief that the choices we make and our work can change disaster outcomes. Maybe even keep disasters from happening entirely.

Having the privilege to work with folks across the nation, I see people who choose to stare into uncertainty and say, "How do we prevent this? How do we get ready if we can't?" I see collaboration over competition, knowledge-sharing over hoarding, community over individual gain.

Sometimes building software feels trivial when I think about the real crises you face. But you've taught me something: this isn't about the tools. It's about values becoming reality. That's what your preparedness work does. And that's what we're doing at Preppr too—turning our values into innovation that serves you, technology that amplifies your capabilities, and tools that strengthen the communities you hold dear.

While we may not be in the trenches with you, we are with you. If we can provide extended trial access, exercise support, or connections to other preparedness professionals, please reach out.

Thank you for choosing preparedness as a calling.

Stay strong,

Justin

Platform Updates

We've been busy making Preppr even more powerful and easier to use. Here's what's new on the platform:

  • Ask Preppr Goes Multi-Modal - Access 8 different advanced AI models from OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini directly within Ask Preppr, all included in your current subscription. Choose the best model for your specific task—whether you need deep reasoning, document analysis, or creative problem-solving—without switching platforms (or paying fees to OpenAI, Claude, or Google to access their most advanced AI) → Read more

  • Integrated Intelligence - The Preppr Exercise Designer now automatically integrates relevant open-source intel from carefully curated sources based on your conversation and profile. Preppr manages what it does with the retrieved content to ensure accuracy and reliability, while you get hyper-localized exercises tailored to your community—all seamlessly integrated behind the scenes. Combine this with your own intel pulls in your custom instructions, and you get even more control over community-focused exercises.

  • Streamlined Custom Instructions - You can now add Ask Preppr and Intelligence outputs directly into your custom instructions with one click. No more copying and pasting between tools—when Ask Preppr and Preppr Intelligence surface critical information, you can instantly incorporate it into your exercise design parameters.

  • Enhanced Healthcare Preparedness - The Preppr Exercise Designer now includes Joint Commission standards as a framework option. Healthcare facilities can now design exercises that directly align with Joint Commission requirements, ensuring compliance while building real preparedness muscle. Plus... every piece of exercise content is traceable back to specific requirements—even down to the requirement code—making compliance a breeze when accreditation time rolls around.

  • Instant Learning Support - We've added a help icon to the navigation bar that takes you straight to our Tutorial Collection. Whether you're new to Preppr or exploring advanced features, quick answers are always one click away.

  • Team Account Enhancement - Team accounts now support admin-level custom instructions, ensuring all team members design exercises under consistent organizational parameters. Admins can set organizational standards, preferred frameworks, and key priorities that automatically apply to every team member's exercise design process.

Our Emergency Alert Generation Tool is Now Freely Available Under Creative Commons

By

Justin Snair

Preppr.ai has released its "Ask Preppr Action: Preparedness Alert & Warning Template Generation" protocol, a sophisticated, multi-agent system that runs in Large Language Models to help public safety officials create effective and compliant emergency alerts. The tool guides users through a structured, research-based workflow to generate templates for various platforms while enforcing FEMA/IPAWS standards and ethical guidelines. Arguing that life-saving tools should be widely accessible, the company is making the protocol freely available under a Creative Commons (CC BY-SA 4.0) license to foster greater accessibility, innovation, and transparency in the emergency management community.

I was wrong about AI

By

Justin Snair

Like many in emergency management and business continuity, I saw AI as a productivity boost—extracting details from plans, generating scenarios, drafting reports. The tool worked great. But I was solving the wrong problem. We don't have a content creation problem in EM/BC. We create plenty of plans and reports. Our real challenges are deeper: coordination failures, engagement gaps, and tacit knowledge trapped in silos.
